Two men arrested over fatal stabbing of Melbourne man

Homicide Squad detectives have arrested two men from Melbourne's west in relation to the stabbing death of a man at a Melbourne home on Sunday night.

Paramedics were called to the Myrtle Street, Werribee, home about 8pm, where they found the injured 30-year-old lying on the front lawn.

Despite their best efforts to revive him he died in the ambulance, less than two kilometres from the crime scene.

Homicide detectives launched a large-scale manhunt for the alleged killer on Sunday night and remained at the home yesterday.

Today police arrested a 36-year-old man from Darley and a 21-year-old man from Melton South, both in Melbourne's west.

The pair has been taken into custody and will be interviewed.

Yesterday, residents said the incident had terrified them.

"It's scary knowing it happened so close to my area, heaps of kids that run around – so it's not good," one man said.

Another woman told 9NEWS she heard the commotion.

"That was a bit of a shock, I thought there was something going on – but never a stabbing," Melanie Jones said.
