Vic man loses ute over speeding

A man has had his vehicle seized after he was caught speeding more than 70km/h over the speed limit on Melbourne's outskirts.

Highway patrol officers detected the ute travelling 138km/h in a 60km/h zone in Truganina, west of Melbourne, about 6pm on Friday.

The ute was immediately impounded by police and the 23-year-old driver is expected to be charged with a speeding offence.
