Vic man asked cop for sexy photos

A Victorian man thought he was asking a 14-year-old girl for sexy photos when he told her he was single and lonely on his birthday.

But Dale Blackwolf, 49, was actually chatting to police posing as a underage girl when he engaged in graphic sexual chats with someone he believed was 14.

He also asked her if she wanted to meet with him.

Blackwolf has pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to procure a person under 16 for sexual activity, and to using a carriage service to transmit indecent communication to a person under 16.

He was sentenced by the Victorian County Court on Thursday to six months in prison, with a two-year good behaviour bond, as well as a 30-month community corrections order.

Judge Meryl Sexton described the offending, which took place between October 2013 and June 2014, as serious, even if it did not result in physical contact.

"You were encouraging, enticing ... her to engage in sexual talk with you whilst believing she was a 14-year-old girl," she said.

"They involve an intention on your part as a 47-year-old man to engage sexually with her."

Judge Sexton said Blackwolf was seeking sexual gratification when he began chatting to the officers posing as girls.

"You were telling the person you were single and lonely on your birthday as part of your encouragement for her to talk to you in a sexual manner," she said.

Blackwolf was in a loving relationship when the chats took place, the court heard.

He told a psychologist he assumed he had committed the offences because he was "feeling bored".

Blackwolf has a previous conviction for indecently assaulting his then wife's sister in 1990.
