Vic man escapes injury after plane flips

A pilot has escaped injury after his plane flipped over while landing at Tyabb Airport on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

Paramedics treated the man aged in his 50s after they were called to the crash just before noon on Sunday, an Ambulance Victoria spokesman says.

He did not have any obvious injuries and was not taken to hospital, Ambulance Victoria says.

Peninsula Aero Club president Peter Bernardi said the pilot, a man with 30 to 40 years flying experience, is now helping crews to right the replica Russian Yak fighter plane.

He said the aircraft was taxiing at little more than brisk walking pace after landing when a wheel dipped into mud at the edge of the runway, causing it to turn over.

"He got nothing out of it but a muddy shirt and a bruised bum from where he's been kicking himself," Mr Bernardi told AAP.
