Victorian man dies after being pulled from water

A young man has died after being found unconscious in the water near Jan Juc, south of Geelong.

The 21-year-old St Albans man had been swimming by himself near Bird Rock, a local geological feature, when he disappeared, police say.

He was spotted by a jet skier on Friday afternoon and pulled unconscious from the water by lifesavers.

Emergency services were called while lifesavers performed CPR but they were unable to save the man.

Ambulance Victoria previously said two people were pulled from the water but police confirmed the man had been swimming solo.
