Vic man charged with attempted murder

A 52-year-old Victorian man has been charged with attempted murder and possessing firearms after a shooting last week.

The Wyndham Vale man faced Melbourne Magistrates' court on Tuesday night charged with a number of offences over the shooting at Altona North on May 19.

Police were alerted to the incident after the 25-year-old victim, a Point Cook man, attended hospital with a gunshot wound on May 20 about 1am.

Officers allegedly found a shotgun, pen pistol, Taser and shotgun ammunition during a raid on a Marne Ave address on Tuesday.

The alleged gunman has been remanded in custody and will reappear in court on Friday.
