Vic man charged over supermarket stabbing

A man has been charged over a stabbing in a supermarket car park on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

The 25-year-old man was charged on Wednesday with intentionally and recklessly causing serious injury and other assault-related offences over the Tuesday incident.

It is alleged he approached a staff member collecting trolleys and stabbed him around lunchtime.

Victoria Police said the stabbing was not related to coronavirus panic buying.

The 37-year-old Rosebud worker was flown to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The accused man was remanded to reappear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on June 9.
