Vic man in court over fatal car crash

A man charged over a fatal crash in Melbourne has acquired brain injury from the accident, a court has heard.
Qirui Liang's passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was killed when the car he was driving hit a tree in Kew on August 28, and he suffered life-threatening injuries.
Liang, 20, from Vermont, faced the Melbourne Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on five charges including culpable driving causing death and dangerous driving.

His lawyer Mark Harris said Liang had acquired a brain injury from the crash.
Magistrate Ann Collins extended his bail, which includes the condition that he cannot drive a car.
She ordered him to return to court on February 2 next year.
