Vic man arrested after police stand-off

A man has been arrested after barricading himself inside a Melbourne home with a woman and child and refusing to surrender to police.

Officers were called to a house in outer-suburban Tarneit about 1pm on Monday following reports a man with a weapon had locked himself inside with a woman and child.

Officers negotiated with the man for three hours before the woman and child were released unharmed and the man was taken into custody.
