Vic Liberals attack Nardella on tax claims

Victoria's opposition has asked the State Revenue Office to investigate former deputy speaker Don Nardella over his controversial claiming of a second residence allowance.

Mr Nardella resigned from the Labor party after refusing to pay back the allowance originally meant for country MPs, which he claimed for not living in his Melbourne electorate.

"It would appear that the residential properties that were owned by Mr Nardella in this period should have been subject to land tax," shadow treasurer Michael O'Brien wrote in a letter to the SRO.
