Vic homicides spike in 2014-15

Victoria's homicide rate spiked 10 per cent in 12 months amid a spate of drive-by shootings.

Figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday show 132 homicides were reported in 2014-15 - 12 more than the year before.

Of those, some 27 were linked to family violence.

That number has considerably decreased since 2013, when 44 homicides were linked to family violence, according to the Royal Commission into Family Violence.
