Vic giant gnome has something extra

The giant silver gnome sculpture erected near a Victorian freeway has been given an extra appendage.

Pranksters have attached a large silver penis onto the nine-metre high sculpture that has been welcoming motorists on Melbourne's Peninsula Link freeway since July.

A photo of the gnome and his added manhood appeared on Facebook on Thursday and has social media awash with laughing emojis.

The sculpture is part of the Southern Way McClelland Commission and is one of 14 public artworks, with a total value of more than $4 million, to be commissioned for the road over 25 years.
