Vic garage 'dentist' cops $20k fine

A Melbourne backyard dentist has been fined $20,000 after pleading guilty to malpractice which began more than 10 years ago.

Muhammet Velipasaoglu appeared in the Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to 17 charges, after it was found he was an unregistered dentist running a clinic in his Meadow Heights garage.

He was fined $20,000, with more than $13,000 in additional costs, and handed a 12-month community corrections order with 250 hours of community work.
