Vic, feds says progress made over Alcoa

Significant progress has been made to find a solution for struggling Victorian aluminium smelter Alcoa, the federal and state governments say.
The future of the Portland smelter has been under a cloud for some time and it has been working at less than 30 per cent capacity since a power cut in December.
In a joint statement, federal Industry Minister Greg Hunt and state Treasurer Tim Pallas say "significant progress" has been made over the weekend, with a show of good faith from all parties to find a solution for the smelter's future.
