The family of a Victorian woman who was stabbed to death wants her killer to come forward.

Rani Featherston was found stabbed to death on a suburban street in Melbourne, in April 2014.

"Today marks the second anniversary where she was brutally murdered in Doveton and stolen away from our family," her brother Aaron Featherston told reporters on Saturday.

"Please see it in your heart to come forward, just imagine if it was your sister, your daughter, your aunty, your friend."

The 34-year-old's mother died last year, never knowing who murdered her daughter.

Detectives released an image of a temporary tattoo found on Ms Featherston's leg, which wasn't seen in the CCTV captured the day before her death.

They hope the skull and crossbones tattoo will provide a clue to find her killer.
