Vic driver caught clocking 198km/h

A driver appeared to be trying to break the sound barrier when he clocked up nearly 200km/h in a Victorian country town.

The 25-year-old man, with his mate sitting in the passenger seat, clocked 198km/h in a 100km/h zone in Lawloit on Sunday night, police say.

Police confirmed the pair would be catching the bus back to Melbourne after swiftly impounding the Ford Falcon sedan.
