Vic disability workers protest NDIS plan

Disability workers in Victoria are protesting against plans to privatise the rollout of the national disability scheme that the union says creates job and wage insecurity.

Members of the Health and Community Services Union (HACSU) will rally outside Premier Daniel Andrews' office on Monday in protest over its plans to contract out publicly funded disability services.

The state government has asked not-for-profit and private providers to show their interest in providing NDIS services.

HACSU say this is in breach of a election promise by the government not to privatise disability services.

The plan will also result in thousands of disability roles being contracted out to lower quality and lower capacity services, the union say.
