Vic corruption inquiry into second week

A public hearing that's already claimed scalps as it investigates a suspected $2.5 million rort of Victoria's Education Department is set to resume in Melbourne.

The Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission is considering allegations senior department staff used funding covertly stored in "banker" schools to pay for parties, wine and other items.

IBAC is also looking at claims 17 companies linked to former finance manager Nino Napoli and nine of his relatives received more than $2.5 million from Victorian schools between 2007 and 2014.

Two senior staff, including Mr Napoli, have been sacked. Since the inquiry began last Monday, two school principals are being investigated.

The hearing, in Melbourne, continues into its second week on Tuesday.
