Vic Christmas Eve thieves still on run

Brazen thieves who stole a car and valuables at a Melbourne house on Christmas Eve as residents slept remain on the run.

The thieves entered a house in Dandenong on Saturday, stealing phones, wallets and keys off a coffee table as two men slept in the living room of the house, police say.

One of the men woke up and found the thieves in the house, calling out to them, before they ran off.

They made their getaway by stealing the victim's 2002 Holden Astra.

About an hour later the car was involved in a crash in a neighbouring suburb, police say.

A witness saw three men fleeing the car, one wearing a white jacket.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or the Holden driving before the crash to contact Crime Stoppers.
