Firefighters are set to take the owners of a Victorian coal mine that caught on fire to court in a bid to get compensation.
The Country Fire Authority is readying a legal claim against GDF Suez, owners of the Hazelwood coal mine, which burned for 45 days in 2014.
"We are currently finalising arrangements for a claim to be lodged in the Supreme Court," CFA CEO Michael Wootten told AAP on Wednesday.
