Vic bus company linked to V/Line head
A bus company providing replacement bus services for the crippled regional rail provider V/Line is owned by the chairwoman's husband.
But V/Line's acting chief Gary Liddle insists the board or senior management had "no involvement whatsoever" in selecting bus companies to provide services.
"It's been managed through a third party and I'm very confident the appropriate steps have been put in place," he told ABC 774 on Friday.
V/Line chairwoman Jenny Dawson declared her interest in Bendigo Coachlines before taking up the position in July last year, he added.
Bendigo Coaches' David Dawson said the company had been providing replacement services for V/Line for the last 10 years.
"My wife has only been in the position (as chairwoman) for the last six months and declared that interest when taking the position," Mr Dawson told AAP on Friday.
"It's no big deal for us or for anyone else, I wouldn't think."
