Vic bureaucrats fail to check activities

Victorian bureaucrats regularly fail to check up on activities they are legally responsible for, a report found.
More than two-thirds of the Victorian Auditor-General's reports in 2014-15 found agencies failed to check on activities they were responsible for under legislation, policy or governance arrangements.
"At times, this meant that government could not be sure legislation was complied with, or that taxpayer funds were spent effectively," the Auditor-General's annual report said on Wednesday.
