Vic budget: what's already been announced

VICTORIAN BUDGET 2018/19 - WHAT WE KNOW:

ROADS

* $2.2 billion to upgrade 13 arterial roads across north and southeast suburbs

* $941 million to regional roads, with $333 million to go to fixing more than 1000 kilometres of road

* $110 million for further planning works for the North East Link

* $23.9 million to improve road safety around schools

RAIL

* $572 million to upgrade the Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury train lines

* $60 million for new and upgraded car parking spaces at outer suburban train stations

* $50 million for planning fast rail to Geelong

SCHOOLS

* $353.2 million to build 12 new schools, add facilities to seven others already under construction and planning for more

* $180.8 million to build, plan and upgrade 60 regional schools

* $43 million to build, upgrade and improve early learning facilities

LAW AND ORDER

* $689.5 million to build a 700-bed maximum-security men's prison at Lara

* $115 million police and crime-prevention package including $36 million for a new police station in the CBD, $25 million for specialist training and $24 million to tackle cybercrime

HEALTH

* $115 million to expand the Wonthaggi Hospital

* $50 million to upgrade rural and regional health infrastructure

* $50 million to help hospitals treat the flu this winter

* $2.1 million to create a bone marrow research centre

OTHER

* $225 million to redevelop Etihad Stadium and keep the AFL grand final at the MCG until at least 2057

* $241.6 million to upgrade sports facilities at suburban grounds, local clubs and high-performance centres

* $47.3 million to support Aboriginal children in the child protection system

* $50 for each Victorian household that visits a state government-run energy company comparison website, at a total cost of $48 million

* $31.6 million to revamp Melbourne's Australian Centre for the Moving Image

* $25 million to help authorities continue their statewide audit of buildings for dangerous cladding
