Vic man denies bikie links, admits drugs

Anti-bikie police found drugs near a sleeping two-year-old child during a raid on a house in Melbourne.

But householder Robert Martin, who pleaded guilty in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Thursday to possessing a weapon and numerous drugs, denies he's involved with the Comancheros

Police found nunchucks, cannabis, dexamphetamine, GHB and a small amount of ice scattered around the 29-year-old's home, with some found near where a two-year-old child was sleeping, the court heard.

The raid was part of a larger targeted operation by the Echo Taskforce, which deals with outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Police raided 27 properties on March 14, charging 16 people including Martin.

Martin's lawyer Bernie Balmer told the court his client had merely purchased a vehicle from someone belonging to the Comancheros and did not have any ties to the group.

"He's not a patched member of the Comancheros," Mr Balmer said on Thursday.

Martin was ordered to undergo weekly drug tests as part of his bail conditions, with Mr Balmer telling the court his client was "going well" with his results and had been complying with his community corrections order.

He said the drug charges have been a "reality check" for Martin.

Magistrate John Bentley ordered Martin to continue with his community corrections order until September 8 so he could see how seriously he was tackling his drug problem.

"If you want to take drugs, you'll be caught out," he told Martin.

"The ball's in your court," he said.

Martin is due to be sentenced on September 8.
