Bailed man accused of Vic train assaults

A man accused of biting an elderly woman on a train and pushing a teenage boy onto the tracks in Melbourne was on bail at the time.

Adam Reeves briefly appeared via video link in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 14 charges from October 6 last year when he allegedly assaulted five people while on a train and at Hawthorn station.

According to his charge sheets, Reeves was on bail at the time for allegedly assaulting two emergency workers and for public drunkenness.

He has been charged with intentionally causing injury, reckless conduct endangering life while on bail, failure to appear for bail, recklessly causing injury and unlawful assault.

Reeves, of Tullamarine, has also been charged with pushing a person onto an active railway line and placing them in danger of death.

The 73-year-old woman bitten and the 14-year-old boy pushed to the tracks were treated for their injuries following the incident.

The court has heard previously that Reeves, who was said to be acting erratically before the incident and was restrained by witnesses until police arrived, suffers from schizophrenia.

He has not applied for bail.

The matter was adjourned, with Reeves remanded in custody to reappear before court on February 3.
