Vic activists blockade detention centre

Activists have blockaded a Melbourne detention centre and are searching outgoing cars and trucks to make sure an asylum seeker isn't deported.

Close the Camps Collective activist Salli Hunter says they are trying to prevent the deportation of "Saeed", whose asylum application was rejected while his brother's was accepted, because he didn't get his application in in time.

Ms Hunter said the group had been blockading the Broadmeadows detention centre since 3pm on Tuesday, searching cars, vans and trucks as they came out of the centre to ensure "Saeed" wasn't being smuggled out.
