Unique displays remember Anzacs in Vic

Unique Gallipoli artefacts will take Victorians on a trip through time, as a group of the state's bright young minds return from an unforgettable Anzac journey.

An exhibition showcasing the fruits of a nine-year archaeological operation on the Gallipoli Peninsula was unveiled at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne on Monday.

The display reveals a variety of items recovered from the battlefield, including bullets, shrapnel, handmade bricks and even the iron keys to a sardine can.

It comes as 12 Victorian school students return from a study tour of Gallipoli and the Western Front.

The group, who were awarded the premier's Spirit of Anzac Prize, followed the journeys of WWI nurses at Lemnos, visited Anzac Cove and laid wreaths while commemorating soldiers killed in battle.
