Melbourne train services back on track following resolution

Disruption to Melbourne's train services has been avoided after industrial action over safety concerns by the train driver union was cancelled following a resolution overnight.
The Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) had planned industrial action for today over Metro's Comeng and Siemens type trains, which account for more than half Metro's 200-odd fleet.
The action stems from a problem with a new digital radio station system on Comeng trains and a string of explosions that have happened beneath Siemens carriages, Fairfax Media reports.
Yesterday the RTBU said in a statement it did not wish to inconvenience passengers but safety was always the union's priority.
Metro Trains had warned that any action taken today would be unprotected.
