Two Vic cops charged with perjury

Two Victorian policemen have been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The Office of Public Prosecutions has decided perjury charges should be laid against the pair following investigations into an altercation outside a Vermont convenience store on Christmas morning 2014, Fairfax reports.

Acting chief commissioner Shane Patton told 3AW on Thursday police had initially decided to charge the pair with unlawful assault involving two teens, but conversations between the OPP and Professional Standards Command found it would also be appropriate to lay other charges.
