Two nabbed for alleged speeding in Vic

A teenage P-plate driver has allegedly been caught driving at almost 200km/h in Melbourne's western suburbs.

Police expect to charge the 19-year-old man on summons after he was allegedly caught travelling at 189km/h in an 80km/h zone in Albion late on Monday night.

Officers immediately impounded the vehicle under hoon legislation.

In a separate incident, highway patrol officers allegedly caught a 22-year-old P-plate driver travelling at 130km/h in an 80km/h area in Keilor Park, in the city's northwest, just after midnight on Tuesday.

The car was impounded for 30 days and the driver, from Preston, is also expected to be charged on summons.
