Melbourne house fire 'suspicious'

A fire that destroyed a home in Melbourne is being treated as suspicious.

Despite initial fears, firefighters say the two occupants weren't at the Mulgrave home at the time, although they are still unaccounted for.

The house was engulfed by flames, with the blaze starting just before 6am on Wednesday.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire but say it is suspicious.
