Two hit by tram in Melbourne CBD

Two people hit by a tram in Melbourne's CBD have been taken to hospital, one with serious injuries.
The woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s were struck near Crown Casino on Clarendon Street about 7pm on Thursday.
The woman suffered head and chest injuries and was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition, while the man suffered minor injuries and is in a stable condition.

A Yarra Trams manager arrived quickly on scene and was looking after the driver, who is being assisted by support services, a spokesman says.
The driver will be interviewed by the tram operator.
