Two deaths on Victorian roads in 6hrs

A motorcyclist and a driver have died in separate crashes in Victoria in the space of six hours.

The male driver believed to be in his 30s lost control of his car and crashed into a tree in Newlyn, near Ballarat, and died at the scene after 6pm, police say.

Earlier in the day, a male motorcyclist died on the Great Ocean Road when his bike hit a truck at a bend at Eastern View.

The two deaths bring the Victorian road toll to 231, up from 205 at the same time last year.
