Two arrested for Vic rail signal thefts

Two men have been arrested for the theft of railway signalling equipment that caused major delays on a Melbourne train line.

Police allege the two men, aged 31 and 38, broke into a signal box in Altona North on Thursday and took signalling switches and transformers worth more than $16,000.

The pair were arrested in the early hours of Thursday allegedly trying to steal more equipment in Altona North and both are expected to be charged with theft and criminal damage.
