Woman dies, man injured in Vic road crash

A woman is dead and a male truck driver is seriously hurt after a car and cement truck collided head-on in country Victoria.

The car driver, a woman who has not been identified, died at the scene following the crash about 12.30pm on Wednesday in Woodend, northwest of Melbourne.

The truck driver, a 49-year-old Sunbury man, was trapped but has now been flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries.

Victoria's road toll is 143, one fewer than at the same time last year.
