Tributes for horse trainer killed in Vic

Victorian harness racing jockeys will wear black armbands this week to honour trainer Danielle Lewis, who died in a fall.

The 28-year-old trainer died on Monday morning after being found unconscious at the Cranbourne Harness Racing Training Centre in Melbourne's east.

Harness Racing Victoria CEO John Anderson said Ms Lewis' passion for harness racing was unrivalled.

"Danielle's great passion in life was for training horses," Mr Anderson said in a statement on Tuesday.

"It's a tragic loss for the industry and my sympathies go out to the tight-knit Cranbourne harness racing community."

Police believe Ms Lewis was riding one horse and leading another when she fell.

Harness Racing Victoria is planning further tributes to the trainer at racing events throughout the coming week.
