The front of a tram has almost been torn off after a crash on a busy thoroughfare in Melbourne’s inner suburbs this morning.
Images shared to social media show the crumpled Route 70 tram on Swan Street, in Richmond, just before 9am.
“Truck crashed into the tram…whole team was shaken,” Twitter user, “Earnie”, posted.
A Yarra Trams spokeswoman said the scene was cleared by 9.15am.
No one was injured and emergency services were not called.
In a separate incident, an ill passenger at Flinders Street station has caused Route 70 trams to Wattle Park to divert via La Trobe Street, Spring Street and Bridge Road, Yarra Trams said.
Meanwhile, 16 people are in hospital after a train crashed into a barricade at Richmond Station in western Sydney.
