Trains best way to get to the Melb Cup
AAP
Racegoers flocking to Flemington for the Melbourne Cup should catch the train to avoid the squeeze on the roads around the racetrack, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says.
Trains depart Flinders Street to Flemington every 15 minutes from 7am and then every seven minutes from 9.30am.
Trams will leave from the corner of Flinders and Elizabeth Streets every 12 minutes, taking around 25 minutes to get to the track.

It'll cost over $30 dollars to catch a cab the same distance without any traffic, but you could always travel by helicopter for $640 return, touching down at Flemington without having to brush shoulders with other punters.
