Traders at the Queen Victoria Market have started to join the National Union of Workers as part of their ongoing battle over the site's redevelopment.

A mass meeting of stall holders will be held at the Trades Hall on Wednesday to talk about changes at the market.

The City of Melbourne has a 10-year plan to redevelop the market, including turning the main car park into a plaza and changing some retail spaces.

Traders joining the NUW are joining as community members with the aim of resourcing a community organiser to help their campaign to voice their concerns on the overhaul.
