Toxic smoke warning for Melbourne suburb

Toxic plumes of smoke billowed over Melbourne overnight as a fire ripped through a two-storey home.

Two dozen firefighters fought the flames of the weatherboard house in Glenroy but it appears no one was at home, MFB said late on Thursday.

A community warning advising local residents to stay indoors due to smoke in the area was lifted about midnight.
