A toddler is in hospital with serious injuries after being bitten on the face by a dog in Dunolly, a small town in Victoria’s north.

Paramedics were called to a property on Pain Killer Gully Road at around 7.10pm last night after a young girl suffered facial injuries from a dog attack.

The child, believed to be aged between one and three, was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Maryborough police Sergeant Steve Cunningham told The Herald Sun the dog involved was not owned by the child’s family.

“The owner has since put the dog down,” Sergeant Cunningham said.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
