* Akon Guode immigrates to Australia from Sudan in 2006 and stays with her dead husband's cousin, Joseph Manyang, and his wife and children

* Guode and Manyang start an affair in 2008 and have daughter Alual in 2009

* Guode gives birth to twins Hanger and Madit in 2010, Manyang leaves his wife

* Son Bol born in December 2013

* Amid community gossip, Guode isolates herself and plans to move to Morwell

* A rumour allegedly circulates that Manyang is going back to his wife

* On April 8, 2015, Guode drives her Toyota Kluger into a lake at Wyndham Vale in Melbourne's west

* Hanger, Madit and Bol drown, while Alual survives

* Guode is questioned by police and released without charge

* Two days after the deaths, Manyang tells SBS Radio he does not believe Guode deliberately drove into the water

* She is sentenced on May 30 to 26 years and six months in jail, with a non-parole period of 20 years.
