Thieves steal donation box from Melbourne RSPCA centre

A donation box containing more than $500 has been stolen from an RSPCA in Melbourne’s east overnight.

The offenders smashed the glass doors of the Burwood East premises to gain access to the reception area, RSPCA Victoria CEO Dr Liz Walker said in a statement.

“A donation box containing an estimated $500-plus in coins was taken,” Dr Walker said.

“These coins were generously donated by visitors, including the numerous children who proudly donated their pocket money.”

No people or animals were injured in the robbery.

Police are now investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV.
