Thieves armed with knives rob family milk bar in Werribee

A family has been left shaken after armed thieves stormed their milk bar in Werribee, in Melbourne’s south-west, last night.

CCTV released by police showed the four men in balaclavas enter the store on Derwent Road about 8.30pm.

Owner Mary Lakkis told 9NEWS she was on the sitting on the couch in the family room adjacent to the store when she heard her husband yell: “what are you doing mate?”

“He saw four or five boys walk in, wearing balaclavas on their face,” Mrs Lakkis said.

“They shouted ‘give me your money, give me your money’.”

She explained one of the offenders grabbed cigarettes, cash and threatened with her husband with a “big knife”.

The thieves then fled the scene, leaving the Mrs Lakkis and her husband uninjured but shaken.

“I have really bad chest pains. I’m still shaking,” she said.

The 63-year-old said she had owned the business for more than 18 years.

Mrs Lakkis said the milk bar was sold three weeks ago but “never wants to own a business again”.

The offenders, who were all wearing dark clothes and gloves, remain on the run.

Investigations are ongoing.
