The road to fast-tracked Vic rail upgrades
LONG ROAD TO FAST-TRACKED VIC RAIL UPGRADES:
November 2007 - Labor upgrades two rail crossings in Pirron Yallock, at Swan Marsh and Settlement roads, with flashing warning lights and bells.
2011/12 - Level crossing at Swan Marsh Road is further upgraded with boom gates.
2013/2014 - Level crossing at Timboon-Colac Road in Pirron Yallock also gets boom gates.
February 2015 - The Andrews Labor government announces the Phalps Road crossing in Pirron Yallock will be one of three to share $2 million for fast-tracked upgrades.
March 2016 - Opposition ask when works on the Phalps Road crossing will start.
April 2016 - Government says early power supply works are complete, site works likely to start in June, upgrade to be completed late 2016.
July 13, 2016 - A truck and V/Line train crash at the Phalps Road rail crossing.
