Terror won't spook Victorians: Fischer

Victorians should not be spooked from attending Anzac Day commemorations, according to former deputy prime minister Tim Fischer.

Fresh from speaking at the Anzac Authors Festival in Barwon Heads, Mr Fischer said he was confident members of the community would turn out in large numbers to remember those who made the greatest sacrifice for their country.

"Victorians should not be spooked by the terror arrests ahead of Anzac Day," Mr Fischer told AAP on Sunday.

"There are Anzac commemorations and services right through to Sunday 26 April and I'm confident all necessary security measures will be taken."

Mr Fischer said he would attend a number of ceremonies throughout the week.
