Three men have been killed on Victoria's roads within 24-hours with the latest fatality involving a truck and car colliding near the NSW border.

A man in his 50s died when his car was involved in the smash at Cobram shortly after midday on Wednesday, police said.

The truck driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash came just hours after a 36-year-old man died when his ute smashed into a truck on the Hume Freeway near Benalla.

Another a crash at Thomastown on Tuesday night killed an 18-year-old and left five others injured.

The teenage boy died at the scene while three others in the same vehicle were hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the crash.
