Melbourne crime spree accused in custody

A teenager accused of 11 armed robberies over two months in Melbourne has anger and sleep issues, a court has heard.

Kasim Ibrahim, 18, faced Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Thursday on numerous charges including armed robbery, stealing cars and one count of drug possession.

All the alleged offences occurred over two months ending on Wednesday.

Most recently he was allegedly involved in two hold-ups, one in a McDonalds and one at a Subway on Wednesday, stealing cash and handbags.

The day before that he had allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven convenience store and a Caltex service station for cash and cigarettes.

Ibrahim's lawyer, Tiffany Jansen, said her client had health issues, some of which were undiagnosed.

"He does have anger and sleep issues," Ms Jansen said.

He was also unsure if he had mental health issues and was hoping to be assessed, Ms Jansen added.

Ibrahim did not apply for bail.

Prosecutor Steven Ballek requested time for a forensic DNA report to be completed and CCTV footage to be formatted.

Chief Magistrate Peter Lauristen remanded Ibrahim into custody until a committal case conference on May 4.
