Teen charged over Ballarat car crash

A Victorian teenager has been charged after an allegedly stolen car was crashed into a power pole, leaving another teen with critical injuries.

The crash happened just before 2.30am on Saturday, in Ballarat, after a police chase.

Police had called off the chase due to high speeds, a Victoria Police spokesman said.

The vehicle was found crashed into a pole with a teenager critically injured in the passenger seat, the spokesman said.

A 17-year-old has been charged with 11 offences, including negligently cause serious injury, dangerous driving while pursued by police and theft of motor vehicle.

He will appear at a children's court on Friday.
