Tas backpacker missing in Malaysia

A Hobart man has been reported missing in Malaysia while backpacking, with his family unable to contact him for several days.

Andrew Gaskell, 25, told his family he would be hiking in Mulu National Park in Sarawak, with poor mobile coverage, for about a week from October 18, but hasn't rechecked in with his family.

Tasmania police say they are working with their Malaysian counterparts and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to find Mr Gaskell.
